ConFusion is Gothenburg’s largest event in the East Asian popular culture. The first event was arranged by the non-profit organization with the same name at the Museum of World Culture 28-30 January 2011. This is conjunction to the museum Japanese fashion exhibit, Kimono Fusion. The event had about 800 visitors.

After a well appreciated first event, we are doing it again and now as an independent arrangement.
Our focus is to offer our visitors a quality secured, fresh and fun event that everyone can appreciate, young as old, as well as beginners and people well-versed with the convention-world.

About the organizers and the organization

The organization that arranges the convention also has the name ‘ConFusion’ and is a Sverok-associated non-profit organization based in Gothenburg. The purpose of this organization is to arrange and support arranging of conventions and also promote gaming- and East Asian culture.

The organization could be referred to as an umbrella association, since it with the help of other organizations coordinates its conventions.

The organization was formed in 2010 and consists of people from different parts of Sweden that are interested in games and Japan, though mostly are from areas around Gothenburg. Many of the members have earlier experiences in arranging conventions with other organizations.

The Museum of World Culture (MWC), where ConFusion will be held, is a modern, light and spacious museum located in the centre of Gothenburg. At MWC there are always one or several ongoing exhibitions about various contemporary issues, social phenomena, cultures and lifestyles.

The exhibits are not only there to be looked at but also to give insight in the topics mentioned above, to illustrate them through different – sometimes even a little bit unusual – perspectives and viewpoints, to inspire and to bring forth opinions. On their website, MWC themselves say that their goal is to “be an arena for discussion and reflection”.

Besides exhibitions, there are also other activities held at MWC, such as screenings, live music performances, lectures, workshops, seminars and festivals. Feel free to read more about the Museum of World Culture on their website!
